The Amira – an incredible 52-meter long schooner built in the wooden Phinisi style – has been taking its guests on new discovery tours since 2010 through one of the most beautiful and diverse diving areas in the world – Indonesia.

On a trip with the Amira – which means 'Princess' – you'll get to experience it all! Think incredible coral reefs with an underwater world more colorful than you could ever imagine, plus secluded bays and beaches, stunning sunsets, and chilling out together on the boat.

The amazing diving area, along with the wonderful Amira herself – which is under German/Swiss management – offer everything a diver's heart could desire.

The best thing is to come and see for yourself...

Routes and availability

The Amira sails a variety of routes through the Indonesian islands, with trips of different lengths.

You can find more detailed info about the Amira's routes, dates, and availability in the overview above, or feel free to ask us anytime via office@maldivesandmore.com.

Here are some example routes:

Raja Ampat
With over 600 coral species, a huge variety of colorful macro creatures, and lots of fish of all sizes, Raja Ampat is a biodiversity hotspot. Respected marine biologists have even called this area a 'species factory'.

In West Papua, the Amira visits Raja Ampat's most beautiful dive sites. The tour first takes you to northern Raja Ampat, where not only the fish-filled dives but also the spectacular scenery will blow you away.

The second part of the tour takes you to the coral and macro paradise near Misool Island. Dive sites like Gorgonian Passage, Fiabacet, and many others guarantee incredibly colorful and fish-rich dives.
The tour wraps up at the famous dive spots near Daram or Balbulol.

Misool & Triton Bay
Near Misool Island, guests can expect a colorful mix of beautiful reefs, macro creatures, lots of fish, sharks, and wobbegongs, but sometimes also strong currents.

Dive sites like Fiabacet and Gorgonian Passage will make any diver's heart skip a beat. Boasting the highest biodiversity anywhere, this amazing dive area has already gained worldwide fame.

Triton Bay, located at the southeastern tip of New Guinea's Bird's Head Peninsula, is considered an absolute world-class dive spot with its own unique charm. Plus, it's still relatively untouched by divers. Its wonderful biodiversity, unique soft coral gardens, huge forests of black corals, and rugged rocks create fantastic scenery both above and below the water.

Misool & Halmahera
West Papua is undoubtedly Indonesia's best diving area and one of the top dive destinations worldwide. The Moluccas still offer many unexplored dive spots.

The tour takes you from Sorong to Misool's underwater highlights. The dive sites near Pulau Pisang offer oceanic dives with excellent visibility.

South of Bacan, you'll find dives packed with currents and fish. Not far from there, you'll do critter dives on black volcanic sand. The Guraici Archipelago is home to some of Halmahera's best dive sites – featuring drop-offs, colorful reefs, and schools of reef fish.

Triton Bay & East Banda
Triton Bay, located at the southernmost tip of New Guinea's Bird's Head Peninsula, is considered an absolute world-class dive spot with its own unique charm. It's not heavily dived and boasts amazing biodiversity. Unique soft coral gardens, huge forests of black corals, and rugged rocks create fantastic scenery both above and below the water.

East Banda is a less-visited but diverse tropical island landscape where crystal-clear waters, beautiful drop-offs, and endless gardens of table corals will make any diver's heart sing. At the current-rich dive sites, you'll encounter schools of barracudas and impressively large Napoleon wrasse.

Forgotten Islands
The 'Forgotten Islands' are a remote island chain over 1,000 kilometers long, stretching all the way from Timor to West Papua. These islands, some of which are volcanic, offer some of the best dive sites in Indonesian waters, and they're still largely unexplored!

Deep blue, clear water, endless reefs, spectacular drop-offs, colorful corals, schools of fish – it's a dream come true for any diver.

Komodo (from/to Bajo)
Dives at famous, fish-rich spots like Castle Rock and Manta Valley will make any diver's heart race. Strong currents here lead to spectacular dives with tons of fish. Schools of fish, sharks, or mantas are almost guaranteed here.

South of Komodo, you'll find Rinca Island with Horseshoe Bay. Beautifully overgrown drop-offs and incredible macro dives make Rinca another highlight of the tour. Cannibal Rock and Larry's Yellow Wall of Texas are a real treat, even for experienced divers.

Kalimantan
Even though Kalimantan – where visibility is 20-30 meters year-round – is still considered an insider tip for divers, this tour offers one highlight after another. It starts with Derawan Island, where muck divers will absolutely love the shallower waters: you can spot seahorses, flamboyant cuttlefish, various types of frogfish, mandarin fish, blue-ring octopuses, wonderpus, ghost pipefish, and more here.

The dive sites around Maratua are known for their drop-offs with strong to very strong currents. In the pristine underwater world, you'll find beautiful corals, lots of turtles, reef sharks, eagle rays, and a huge school of barracudas.

The drop-offs of Kakaban Island, southeast of Maratua, offer fantastic drift diving. Thresher, leopard, and other sharks are very common here. Kakaban is also home to Jellyfish Lake, with a multitude of harmless, non-stinging jellyfish.

Beautiful coral gardens surround Sangalaki Island. The underwater diversity is immense. From jacks, mackerel, and snappers to tuna, barracudas, and even mobula rays and reef sharks – you'll find it all here.
