The ultimate highlight for every diver!

“The greatest shoal in the world… I can definitely call it the most unique natural spectacle on our planet that I've ever experienced, and I've been lucky enough to witness some amazing things underwater in recent years. When the cold water of the western Indian Ocean is pushed up the coast of South Africa by changing weather conditions, this current drives huge sardine shoals along the east coast, right into the path of many hungry predators.”
The current kicks off around Port Elizabeth and East London before hitting the “Wild Coast” and then the East Coast. The stretch between East London and Port St. Johns is known as the “hottest spot” on this migration route, and it's really proven to be the best place for all the action over the past few years. In this area, you could run into dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, Cape gannets, gray whales, humpback whales, dusky sharks, copper sharks, bull sharks, blacktip sharks, ragged-tooth sharks, fur seals, and even sailfish if you're lucky! Our main goal is to find those “baitballs” – the massive sardine shoals. On days when there are only a few small “baitballs,” we'll dive with dolphins, humpback whales, and sharks instead. This truly makes it the ultimate ocean safari. Things aren't always 100% predictable, as nature and the weather have their own way of doing things – but with a bit of luck, the rewards both above and below the water are totally incomparable!
