The Humboldt Explorer offers unparalleled diving experiences in one of the most fascinating places in the world – the Galapagos Islands.
The ship's route includes Darwin Island, Wolf Island, and Cousin’s Rock.
With an incredible abundance of animals and unique biodiversity both above and below the water, the exotic and vast Galapagos region is truly a one-of-a-kind travel destination!
Renovated in 2023, the ship has 8 air-conditioned cabins – located on the main and lower decks – with space for a total of 16 divers.
The Humboldt Explorer also features a partially covered sundeck with a hot tub, a spacious lounge area with plenty of seating, and a salon area with dining, bar, and entertainment options.
CABINS
- 8 Cabins with space for a total of 16 Guests
Main Deck: 2 cabins with twin beds (can be combined into a queen-size bed)
Lower Deck: 6 cabins – 4 of which have twin beds (can be combined into a queen-size bed), 2 cabins with twin bedsEach cabin has its own private bathroom, a flat-screen TV, and a wardrobe.
The cabins on the main deck have even larger windows than those on the lower deck, offering breathtaking ocean views.
FACILITIES
- Salon & Lounge
The air-conditioned salon is located on the ship's main deck and is equipped with an entertainment system.
The lounge area offers plenty of comfortable seating both indoors and outdoors. - Sundeck
The ship features a partially covered sundeck with a hot tub, perfect for extra relaxation between and after your dives.
DINING
- For breakfast, you'll get eggs, pancakes, toast, and fresh fruit.
Lunch and dinner are served buffet-style and usually include salad, potatoes, rice, chicken, beef, pork, and fish.
Between dives, guests can look forward to homemade snacks. - Drinks are also included with your meals.

Galapagos is considered the number one diving destination in the world, so it should definitely be on every diver's liveaboard bucket list.
Divers can really enjoy the amazing wildlife of the Galapagos Islands twice over! Think sea lions, penguins, turtles, iguanas, tons of bird species, plus huge schools of fish, sharks, sea turtles, and even whale sharks from September to December.
- Dive Deck
The spacious dive deck has a bathroom, a large camera table with charging stations, individual storage spots, rinse tanks for cameras, and another one for your gear. - Dives
On the Humboldt Explorer, you can enjoy up to 4 dives per day (depending on the weather and route), and they all follow the rules of the Galapagos National Park. The deepest you can go is 30 meters.
- Nitrox
If you're Nitrox certified, you can get it for an extra charge. - Pangas
Your dives will be done from two big pangas (tender boats), which are super easy to get onto from the dive deck.

The Humboldt Explorer starts and ends its trips from Baltra, for example.
Here's the route description:
Day 1: Baltra
Arrive, then transfer to the Humboldt Explorer & have lunch
Safety briefing & get your gear ready
Dinner
Day 2: Baltra North & North Seymour
Equipment check & 2 dives
Afternoon land visit to North Seymour to see blue-footed boobies, frigatebirds, sea lions, and marine iguanas
Continue on to Darwin & Wolf
Day 3: Wolf Island
4 dives, with the option for a night dive instead of the 4th daytime dive
Spotting hammerheads, whale sharks, eagle rays, sea lions, Galapagos sharks, silky sharks
Overnight near Wolf Island
Day 4: Wolf & Darwin Island
2 dives at Wolf Island
2 dives at Darwin Island
Day 5: Darwin Island
4 dives
Spotting hammerheads, whale sharks, eagle rays, sea lions, Galapagos sharks, silky sharks
Continue on to Wolf Island
Day 6: Wolf Island
3 dives
Sail over to Cousin’s Rock
Day 7: Cousin’s Rock & Santa Cruz
1-2 dives (depends on how long the crossing from Wolf Island takes)
Awesome macro dive site with great chances to see seahorses, sea lions & eagle rays
Lunch while cruising to Santa Cruz (approx. 3 hours)
Trip to Santa Cruz Highlands to visit the giant tortoises in their natural habitat
Explore Puerto Ayora town & the Darwin Center (on your own)
Dinner in Puerto Ayora (on your own)
Return to the Humboldt Explorer at 8:30 PM (you can choose to stay on Santa Cruz instead of returning to the boat)
Day 8: Baltra
9:00 AM transfer to Baltra airport for your flights back to Quito or Guayaquil
