  • Twin Room

Our twin rooms come with two separate beds, each featuring a 100x200cm mattress. These rooms also have their own private bathroom and a table with seating.

You can book both double and twin rooms for single use, and we also have extra beds available for rooms with enough space.

FACILITIES

  • Dining

Every morning, guests at Calma do Mar get to enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet packed with fresh, local products. Besides various cheeses made right here in the Azores, you'll find plenty of seasonal fruits like bananas, oranges, figs, and pineapples. We even serve Azorean tea!

ACTIVITIES

Within just a few minutes' walk, you'll find various shops, restaurants, and tour operators.
Plus, the famous UNESCO World Heritage site for unique wine cultivation on Pico is only 10 minutes away.

Less than 200 meters away, you'll find a natural swimming pool, an outdoor pool, and Madalena's bathing spots.
With its selection of delicious and authentic restaurants, plus tour operators for hiking, Atlantic excursions, and diving, Madalena is the ideal base for an unforgettable vacation in the Azores.

You can also easily reach the surrounding islands with daily ferry connections.

From Pico, you can also collect even more impressive experiences and memories with various activities:

  • Whales & Dolphins

The Atlantic around Pico is one of the world's best spots for whale & dolphin watching, offering amazing biodiversity just waiting to be explored. You can find up to 30 different species of whales & dolphins around the Azores!

For an unforgettable experience, we highly recommend getting up close and personal by swimming with the wild dolphins.

  • Swimming & Bathing

While Pico might not have your typical sandy beaches, you'll still find plenty of breathtaking spots to swim. Many of these bathing areas are protected from the Atlantic waves by offshore reefs or walls.

  • Island Tours
Whether you go by car, scooter, or quad, Pico is perfect for exploring on your own. Of course, guided island tours are also available if you prefer to discover the most beautiful spots, museums, or swimming areas with an expert.

  • Hiking
Whether you fancy a leisurely stroll or a challenging day or multi-day hike, you'll discover the most beautiful routes on Pico Island.

DIVE CENTER
The professional dive center CW Azores has years of experience, is super well-equipped, and offers guests the best safety standards.

Here, you can marvel at unique rock formations, over 650 documented fish species, and more than 400 coral types. Apo Island's proximity to the resort makes every diver's dream come true.

DIVES

  • Shark Diving
The Azores are famous for their amazing dives with Blue & Mako sharks in crystal-clear waters, boasting visibility of up to 20 – 30+ meters! The best months for this are from early July to mid-October, when the water temperature is a lovely 21° to 25° Celsius.

  • Princess Alice

When you go on expeditions to the globally renowned dive site 'Princess Alice' – the peak of an underwater mountain right in the middle of the Atlantic, rising 1,000 meters from the deep – you'll find it absolutely teeming with majestic mobulas, mackerel, large tuna, and barracudas!

Your chances of encountering these beautiful creatures are almost 100% between July and September.
This spot is about 85km from Pico, so get ready for a longer, adventurous speedboat ride!

  • Coastal Dives

The diverse, volcanic underwater landscape around Pico, Faial, and Sao Jorge islands is home to tons of different creatures, from huge stingrays to graceful nudibranchs. It's so amazing, it'll even impress professional underwater photographers!

The narrow coastal shelf, steep walls, canyons, and drop-offs bring coastal, open-water, and deep-sea habitats super close together, meaning you could literally spot almost anything on a single dive!

Even less experienced divers will be amazed by the diverse dive sites. And if you haven't tried diving yet, Pico is the perfect place to learn!

Getting to Pico Island is easy, thanks to flights arriving several times a week via Lisbon. We suggest spending 1-2 nights there when you arrive or before you leave, so you can explore the city on a sightseeing tour.

Another option to reach Pico is to travel via the neighboring island of Faial, followed by a quick, roughly 30-minute ferry ride. The Madalena ferry port is super close, just about a 10-minute walk from the Calma Do Mar guesthouse.

If you stay for at least 7 nights, the accommodation will happily cover the costs and arrange your transfer from Pico airport to the guesthouse.
