The Cape Verde Islands, known as Cape Verde for short, are a group of islands of volcanic origin in the Atlantic Ocean and lie around 570 km off the west coast of Africa.
They consist of 15 islands that could not be more different in terms of climate and landscape.
Only 9 of the islands are inhabited and a perfect, year-round vacation destination for beach vacationers, adventurers and, above all, water sports enthusiasts such as kitesurfers, windsurfers and, of course, divers.
The capital of Cape Verde, Praia, is located on the largest island, Santiago.
As the archipelago is not affected by Atlantic cold water currents, the climate is temperate all year round, the air temperatures are milder at 24°C - 31°C and the sea is pleasantly warm.
SÃO VICENTE
THE DIVING PARADISE OF CAPE VERDE
For divers, the island of São Vicente in particular is a perfect diving paradise and one of the best diving destinations in the world due to its pleasant water temperature all year round, good visibility of up to 25m and rich biodiversity. Even though Cape Verde is a year-round destination, the months of April to October are best suited for a diving vacation, as this is when the strong winds have the least impact and the water temperature reaches its peak of 24°C -28°C.
Around São Vicente you will find everything the underwater world of the Atlantic has to offer. From moray eels, scorpion fish, lobsters, tuna species, barracudas and turtles to rays, sharks and, with a bit of luck, various whale species such as humpback whales, orcas and sperm whales. The most common shark species in Cape Verde include nurse sharks, blacktip sharks and sand tiger sharks. With a bit of luck, you may also be surprised by a tiger or hammerhead shark. The chance of encountering manta rays and whale sharks is greatest between July and November. Corals are mainly found on the beautiful shipwrecks that are waiting to be explored. Diving in Cape Verde is always an unforgettable experience.
The diving areas with their contrasting underwater landscapes such as dark basalt rock, light sandy bottoms, caves and overhangs are suitable for divers of all levels. Experience in drift diving and a good physical condition are always an advantage.
In addition to the countless diving opportunities, there are many other things to discover and experience on São Vicente with its special atmosphere. With its wonderful landscapes and beautiful beaches such as Salamansa, Baia das Gatas or the beach of São Pedro - well known to windsurfing enthusiasts - it is considered the island of contrasts and is one of the most beautiful islands in Cape Verde.
Mindelo, the capital of the island, is considered the cultural capital of Cape Verde. Here you can discover an immense cultural heritage as well as countless restaurants with regional delicacies. The annual music festival also takes place in Mindelo.
DIVE TRIBE DIVING CENTER
Dive Tribe offers two well-equipped diving centers on the island of São Vicente. One is located in São Pedro on the west coast and one in Mindelo on the north coast. The diving center in Mindelo also has three modern RIB boats, which can be used to reach any dive site with ease. From the diving center in São Pedro, you can either dive with the RIB boat or with the local fishing boats.
The starting point and the number of dives depend on the sea conditions. Depending on the conditions, night dives are also possible in Cape Verde. The level of difficulty of the dives is always adapted to the level of the respective group, which is always accompanied by at least one guide.
SSI or PADI courses are also offered at the Dive Tribe diving centers in São Vicente and are held by qualified and competent professionals in a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere.

A SPACIOUS COMPLEX DIRECTLY ON THE SANDY BEACH
The Hotel Foya Branca is located in the bay of São Pedro, in the far west of the island of São Vicente, with a beautiful view over the Atlantic Ocean. It is about 2 km from Cesária Évora International Airport and 10 km from the center of Mindelo. It has two outdoor pools for adults and its own diving and windsurfing store.
